Scoliosis affects mainly 8 to 18 year old girls. Sometimes it occurs at birth, sometimes from assuming distorted head or hip positions, and sometimes the cause is simply unknown.
Even if your child hasn’t complained of any symptoms you may have noticed consistent low hip, high shoulder and poor posture. Neglect poses the biggest danger and early detection is critical. Undetected and untreated scoliosis will worsen, and in severe cases can require surgery to attach steel rods to the child’s spine to force it to straighten.
The combination of early detection and appropriate age, gender, size, and weight-adjusted chiropractic treatment will improve posture, strengthen muscles, and help improve the structure of the spine.
